Description
The TKES54W is a 50cm freestanding electric cooker in white, built around a single 61L oven and a four plate solid hob. It is the most basic cooker in the Teknix line-up and is specified most often for rental stock, student accommodation and small flats where durability and price come first.
The solid plate hob is the right call for that use. Cast plates tolerate heavy or poorly seated pans that would risk damaging a ceramic surface, there is no touch control to fail, and the plates themselves are inexpensive to replace. Two are rated at 1000W and two at 1500W, which is enough for everyday cooking in a one or two person household.
The single 61L cavity is generous for a 50cm cooker and will take a proper roasting tin rather than restricting the user to small trays. Three cooking functions are offered, which keeps the controls obvious for anyone unfamiliar with the appliance.
Cleaning has been kept simple: the oven lining is easy-clean enamel and the door glass lifts out, which makes the cooker much easier to bring back to standard between tenancies. One wire shelf is supplied. The appliance measures 49.6cm wide, 60.0cm deep and 90.0cm high, weighs 35.2kg net and fits a standard 500mm gap. It carries an A energy rating and a two year warranty with registration.
