Description
Family homes and busy kitchens that cook at volume are the usual buyers for a 90cm gas hob, and the BITK290GH5X delivers five burners in stainless steel. The largest is a 4.2kW wok burner, with the rest handling everyday pan work around it.
Five burners across 86cm means several pans can be used at the same time without crowding. That is the practical difference from a 60cm four-burner hob, where the front burners are usually too close together for large pans. The 4.2kW burner gives the heat a wok or a large pot needs rather than the compromise output of a standard rapid burner.
Stainless steel is the more forgiving surface of the two finishes available, and this version is also considerably lighter at 14.28kg net against 19.88kg for the glass model, which is worth factoring in on a retrofit. Cast iron pan supports and the control knobs both lift off for cleaning.
Safety comes from a flame failure device that shuts off the gas if a flame is extinguished, with electronic ignition in the knobs. Jets for LPG are in the box for conversion to bottled gas. The required cutout is 83.0cm by 48.0-49.0cm, the hob measures 86.0 x 51.0 x 8.95cm, and it connects to a hard-wired supply via a 1.5m cord.
