Stainless steel is the alternative finish in the Signature Collection, and the SCGH91X is the 90cm five-burner version. The burner set is Italian-made Sabaf, headed by a 3.8kW wok burner and backed by a 3.0kW rapid burner.
Burner quality is where the money goes on this model. Sabaf is the maker most European hob brands buy from, and the benefit is flames that stay even and controllable at the bottom of the range, not only at the top. Holding a low simmer on gas without lifting the pan is the test cheaper burners tend to fail.
The hob is pressed from a single sheet of steel, so there are no joins across the surface for fat to work into, and it takes the knocks of a working kitchen better than glass. Cast iron pan supports and the control knobs lift off when it is time for a proper clean.
A flame failure safety device closes the gas supply if a flame is lost, and ignition is electronic from the control knob. Jets for LPG conversion are included for properties on bottled gas. The hob requires an 84.0 x 48.0cm cutout and measures 86.2 x 50.0 x 5.8cm, weighing 20.5kg net. That shallow build leaves useful room in the cabinet below.
