Description
Kitchens with the worktop run to take a 90cm hob get a different way of cooking, and the BITK290GH5B is the black glass version of that. Five gas burners are spread across the surface, with a 4.2kW wok burner as the largest.
Space between burners is the real gain over a 60cm hob. Five pans can be worked at once without handles clashing, and a large stockpot or wok can sit on the main burner without overhanging its neighbour. The 4.2kW output is enough for proper wok cooking, where the flame needs to climb the sides of the pan rather than only heat the base.
Cast iron pan supports run across the surface so pans slide between burners instead of being lifted. Supports and knobs both lift off, and the hob is a single piece of glass underneath, so there are no seams for fat to collect in. A flame failure safety device cuts the gas if a burner goes out, and electronic ignition lights from the control knob.
LPG jets are supplied for conversion to bottled gas. The cutout is 83.0cm by 48.0-49.0cm, with the hob measuring 86.0 x 51.0 x 9.69cm and weighing 19.88kg net. Connection is hard wired through the 1.5m cord, and the 51.0cm depth suits a standard 600mm worktop.
