Description
Cooks who want visible flame control and instant response will find the BITK260GHB a straightforward 60cm gas hob on black glass. Four burners are fitted, headed by a 3.4kW wok burner, and the whole surface sits under one piece of glass rather than a pressed steel tray.
The wok burner is the reason to choose this over a smaller four-burner layout. Stir-frying, searing and bringing a large stockpot up to temperature all depend on getting heat into the base quickly, and 3.4kW does that in a way a standard rapid burner does not. The remaining three burners cover sauces, steaming and everyday pan work.
Cast iron pan supports hold heavy cookware steady and sit flat enough to slide a pan between burners rather than lift it. Both the supports and the control knobs lift off for cleaning, which is the part most gas hobs make difficult. A flame failure safety device shuts off the gas if a burner is extinguished by a draught or a boil-over, and electronic ignition lights from the knob without a separate button.
Jets for LPG are supplied in the box, so the hob can be converted for bottled gas where mains is not available. The cutout is 56.0cm by 48.0-49.0cm, and the hob measures 58.0 x 52.0 x 9.69cm at 12.2kg net. Electrical connection is hard wired via the 1.5m cord.
